Search Engine Bookmarks - Issue 1
Welcome to my new feature, Search Engine Bookmarks.. my SEO and SEM finds for the week. Every day, I sort through tons of blogs and news posts on SEO and SEM and frankly there’s just too much repetition. So here it is, a combined version of all the stories and the authority site from which it came from.
Danny Sullivan makes the move
Keep up with Danny Sullivan in his new home http://searchengineland.com/, I’m fully subscribed and I feel good about it. Now someone please put a note on his webmasters desk to 301 redirect the index.php to their domain as well as the non www version.
Digital Point on No follow links
I recall this question asked at Pubcon last month, the response from Google, Yahoo, MSN and Ask was:: A no follow link does not deter the search engine from spidering that link, it doesn’t pass on any link value however.
Do you Digg? Check out “The Search Marketer’s Guide to Digg” by stuntdubl.com. The blog has some great links to quality digg articles.
SEO Tools at We Build Pages
New SEO tools are now avaiable at webuildpages.com, great addition to your bookmarks, for webmasters and marketers.
Graywolf’s SEO Blog
I recently started reading Graywolf, and I have to say this is probably one of the best SEO blogs out there. Here’s a recap of my favorites this week.
SEO Bookmarklets
Graywolf lists some great bookmarks to assist marketers and webmasters with their quests on gaining more information on web pages.
My top Webmaster World Discussions
Inbound Links from Affiliates - a look at how Affiliate Links can affect your performance on the Search Engines. My personal advice, is to stay away from it. Yahoo will definitely find error in it, and Google will do absolutely nothing until it gets out of control.
Compete releases it’s Search Trend Data for November
The folks at Search Engine Watch put out a great read on Compete’s latest search trend. The trend shows Google up at 65.8% (increase) and Yahoo’s slight drop to 20.9%.
I’m still not convinced that these statistics are good, but they are certainly fun to watch!
10 Minute Search Engine Optimization updated
Ross Dunn over at Search Engine Guide has updated his 10 Minute Search Engine Optimization Blog. The guide helps small businesses and individuals with tips on how to quickly optimize their web pages for Search Engines. The read is easy, but the tips are general and broad and doesn’t really help in letting you understand the basics. The post was good however and therefore deserves a note.
Matt Cutts in a nutshell
When the wife is away, Matt goes blog crazy! Here’s a recap of what’s going on in Matt’s head.
Google Toolbar doesn’t lead to page being indexed
Matt challenges the myth “Installing the Google Toolbar and visiting a private/secret page, Google will index that page”.
New Google UI Feature: Plus Box
Matt introduces the implementation of Google Maps and Local Search. A must read for webmasters who work with local market-only websites.
2006 Search Blogs Awards, Nominations now Open
I’m not a big fan of these forms of vote and be voted on but the ladies and men at Search Engine Journal seem to know what they are doing. Categories are limited, but after going through a few comments, some changes or additions may be made. I’ll probably keep following up on this blog.
Hope you enjoyed my first edition on Search Engine Bookmarks, look for more stuff coming soon to our new SearchEngineBookmarks.com domain.
If your blog offers original content and not links to other blogs or news stories, please leave us a message and we’ll make every effort to get you on our lists.
